Engraved Zippo lighters became a defining personal item for American troops during the Vietnam War. One tool with many uses. A cigarette after a gunfight, smoking a bowl from the empty chamber of a shotgun, or burning hooches during a search and destroy patrol. Many Zippos were engraved with simple names, dates, units, and insignias.  However, the engravings made on some of these lighters give us a raw, unfiltered insight into the sentiment of a generation at war. Gallows humor, blunt reflections, and anti-war sentiments. The words on these stickers are inspired by the original engravings made by those who fought.
